United Methodist Church has spent months planning for its fifth annual
fall celebration in the "pumpkin patch." This years
festival will be held on Saturday, October 17th from 8 a.m. until 4
p.m. Vendors and crafters will be set up under majestic live oak trees
displaying items such as unique sock monkey dolls dressed in your
favorite theme, hand painted glassware and other interesting crafts..
Plan to arrive for breakfast at 8 a.m.
and enjoy ham and sausage biscuits. The women of the church are
planning to sell homemade pies, cakes and other sweets available
during the day to take home or to enjoy by the slice after sampling a
hot dog or a plate of delicious down-east fresh cooked barbecue pork.
Save room for some cotton candy and popcorn as you browse the many
activities available.
A variety of "Silent Auction"
items, displayed inside the church, will be up for bid during the day.
All donations are to help raise funds for outreach missions of the
church. If you would like to donate items to be auctioned or would
like to learn more about the bidding procedure, please contact Greg
Gibson at 910-270-9758.
The youth of the church are organizing
a free games area for young children and free hayrides will be
available all day. The "pumpkin patch" sales will support
youth mission projects, including assistance to the growers of the
pumpkins in New Mexico. So plan to purchase those fall decorations
from the "Pumpkin Patch".
Smokey the Bear as well as Magic Man
from Chick-fil-A plan to be in attendance. The Hampstead Fire
Department will display their ladder truck and classic cars will also
be on site for your viewing enjoyment.
HUMC is located at 15395 Hwy 17 in
Hampstead. Vendor spaces are still available. They include a 10 by 10
foot area for $25 and a 20 by 10 foot space for $50. Contact John
Harris at (910) 270-4780 for more information or e-mail: humcfestival@gmail.com |
